Epic Celebrations and DIY DSP

Another card in the You Can Do This Series.

Last week's blog featured a card made in totally frilly Sweet Sugarplum (In Color 2016-18) and my favorite stamp from the Epic Celebrations stamp set -- the pair of sneakers!!  This second card uses the guitar stamp and also focuses on coloring techniques using Stampin' Up!'s Water Color Pencils (found in the Annual Catalog on p. 201 and in the Occasions Catalog on p. 34).

Sometimes it is just a little more fun to make your own DSP (Designer Series Paper). Right? I stamped the head phones in Basic Black Archival Ink on Pool Party Card Stock and colored using the Water Color Pencils in Pacific Point, Real Red and shades of Basic Gray. Use the Aqua Painter or the Blender pen to move the color around.

The guitar was stamped in Dapper Denim Classic Ink (In Color 2016-18) on Whisper White Card Stock and die cut using a large oval and layered on a Dapper Denim large scallop oval.  The sentiment was stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink. Bedazzling compliments of Rhinestone Basic Jewels and a Pool Party Star from the Enamel Shapes (Subtles) assortment.

This is a simple card and would make a great birthday card for a musically inclined teenager!  Post a link to your card in the comments below or share with me on Facebook.

Sales Pitch:  Need I remind you that the 2016-18 In Colors will retire in June so I recommend ordering the ink pads and refills pronto.

Shameless Plug:  If you don't already have a demonstrator, I would appreciate the opportunity.

If you find that you need any additional information, please message me and I will get back to you.

Thank you for visiting with me today!

Epic Celebrations and Tutti-Frutti DSP

Another card in the You Can Do This Series.

The images in the Epic Celebrations stamp set are classics. My personal favorite is the pair of sneakers!!  February club was focused on coloring so the pair of sneakers was perfect for using the Stampin' Write markers. I selected Sweet Sugarplum to coordinate with the watermelon design on this adorable paper from Tutti-Frutti Designer Series Paper Stack. Such a sweet card, and possibly a teen birthday!

After coloring the sneakers with layers of Sweet Sugarplum Stampin' Write marker until I was happy with the shading, I handcut the sneakers in a few snips and affixed with a dimensional to a Whisper White circle on a Pool Party scallop circle. Can you see how I gussied up the white background with a small piece of coordinating washi tape from the Basics Pack 1?

Regretfully, I did not stamp the background piece of Sweet Sugarplum with the sneakers for a tone on tone look.  Instead of starting over, I made lemonade from lemons and dressed this up with a hand-drawn stitches border, a cluster of sequins from the Iridescent Sequins Assortment, and a wrap of the sparkly Powder Pink trim from the Love Mini Tinsel Trim Combo Pack in the 2018 Occasions Catalog around the left edge.

You know you can do this so give it a try. I would love to see your creations! Post a link to your card in the comments below or share with me on Facebook.

If you find that you need any additional information, please message me and I will get back to you. Have I told you lately how fun it is to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. I would love for you to join my team. Sale-A-Bration is a great time to join too. Let's talk!

Thank you for visiting with me today!

You Can Do This-Celebrate You and Wood Words Thank You Gift

Yesterday's blog hop, Anything But A Card Blog Hop, was great fun - only minor technical difficulties - and a huge success. Be sure to check back often to learn about March's Sale-A-Bration blog hop. I cannot wait.

Today I would like to share tips and tricks for putting together this adorable thank you gift.

Stampin' Up! makes gift packaging so easy. Here are 3 tips to help you make your own wood crate.

#1 - The Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack is 6x6. To get both cuts of the wood crate from one sheet so that the wood grain goes in the same direction, flip the die cut 180 on the second run. The overlap of the bottom sections of the wood crate creates a missing small rectangle piece. It will not make any difference in its integrity. Cut a matching rectangle from some coordinating scrap cardstock and adhere to the bottom of the crate to cover the missing section.

#2 - Wait for stamping until after die cutting both of the sections that create the crate.  Otherwise, the slots of the crate may cut out your stamped sentiment ("thank").

#3 - Use a Bone Folder to burnish the score lines for straight, crisp folds and Tear & Tape Adhesive to strengthen the wood crate.

In this second photo, I included this cute, tall box using the Popcorn Box Thinlits Dies [AC, p. 26/212, Item no. 141473].  Maybe it is a little hard to see from the photo that the word "Celebrate" die cut in Dapper Denim is layer on one die cut in the 2017-19 In Color Lemon Lime Twist.

Here is a quick list of the products for ordering:

  • Celebrate You Thinlits Dies [SAB, pp 16-17, Item no. 146840]

Celebrate You and Wood Words Thank You Gift

Welcome to the Anything But A Card Blog Hop. And a special welcome to any visitors coming from Quebec, Canada, via fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Emilie Poncelet's blog! Today I am hopping with several Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia! Welcome one and all.

As my regular visitors already know, my new year's resolution is to increase crafting inspiration for my virtual crafting friends. Hard to believe that my first blog hop was just a month ago. Let's get started.

Like last month, this hop features free, exclusive products from the 2018 Sale-A-Bration catalog that can be earned with qualifying purchases.  The new twist is to create anything, but NOT a card. I decided to pair the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies with the Wood Words stamp set and Wood Crate Framelits Dies found in the Annual Catalog on page 159 (and currently a bundle price) to create this cute thank you gift. I LUV the rustic look of the crate using the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. Don't you?

In my second photo, I snuck (is this even a word?) in a cute tall box with a Celebrate banner made with the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies - LUV the newest in-color Lemon Lime Twist paired with the retiring in-color Dapper Denim. The tall box is made with the Popcorn Box Thinlits Dies also found in the Annual Catalog on page 212. Can you believe this is the first time I have made anything with this die set?

Thank you for visiting with me today! Make sure you keep hopping along to see all the other Sale-A-Bration projects! Click on the "Next" button below to visit Sue Kremer's blog. She is from Minnesota, USA.

This is the full list of our bloggers this month:

I am adding 2 hop stops that were removed at the last minute due to technical difficulties. When you finish hopping along and end up back at my stop, click on these links for bonus projects from Sandra and Susan.

Please come back again sometime when you can stay longer!
