World Card Making Day and Alternate Idea for Paper Pumpkin - September 2016 Kit

Had a full day of card making on Saturday to participate in World Card Making Day. Get your cards in the mail. Someone is really looking forward to receiving a handmade card from you! The World Card Making Day discount on select Stampin' Up! products ends at the close of business tomorrow. The Designer Tin of Cards Project Kit for $20.25 (25% discount) is my favorite.  Here's a snapshot of all 7 products on sale.

I also set aside some time on Saturday to make treats for Halloween using the September 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit. You may recall that I joined a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that stretch our imaginations to create alternate ideas for utilizing all the product in the monthly kits. These Halloween treat tags were my contribution. The Halloween Cookie Cutter stamp set is adorable and adds just the right touch for these treat tubes.

While on the subject of Paper Pumpkin, do not forget that you can try out this awesome craft resource for yourself at a special price. Place an order for the October kit at www.paperpumpkin.com before October 10 and use the promo code "BOGO" to receive next month's kit for free. Post your photos on Twitter with the tag #paperpumpkinbogo.

During the month of October, several packets of Designer Series Paper were selected for the Buy 3 Get 1 Free promotion. My favorites are Blooms & Bliss DSP and Candy Cane Lane DSP.

Introducing the New Stampin' Up! 2016-17 Annual Catalog and Hearth and Home Framelits Card

Before I share my comments on May's club card, I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their support over the last year. It has been my pleasure to help you with your paper crafting and stamping projects. I am honored that you trust me. The new Stampin' Up! catalog release was yesterday (June 1) and I cannot wait to show everyone at our next workshop. It is full of great products and inspiration! To the right is a link to a pdf of the catalog for your quick reference throughout the next year. Happy stamping!

Now, this past month's club card featured the Happy Home stamp set from the 2016 Occasions catalog that retired Tuesday, May 31, but the alternate card used the stamp with the three small flowers and the coordinating Hearth and Home Framelits. Since the club card was a CASE of the card sample in the catalog, let's talk about the alternate card, and how to "fix" it with current catalog product.

Indoors: The flowers in the window are placed in the first vase from the Vivid Vases stamp (retired May 31 -- I recommend using the Flower Patch Stamp Set to replace the flowers and vase/use the small end of the large leaf/upside down). I colored the vase using the Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write marker and the stems are hand drawn with an Old Olive Stampin' Write marker. The lace curtains are Venetian Crochet Trim (retired May 31 -- I recommend Very Vanilla 1/2" Lace Trim/adorable!).

Outdoors: The window box is full of flowers created with the Petite Petals punch (Perfect Plum, Calypso Coral) and the centers of the flowers (Daffodil Delight) from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack (retired May 31 -- I recommend the small flower from the Blossom Bunch Punch). The flower centers are various Regals candy dots (retired May 31 -- I recommend the new Enamel Shapes). The leaves are the tops of the branch from the Bird Builder punch (retired May 31 -- I recommend the leaf from the Flower Fair Framelits).

House: The color choice for this traditional Florida beach house is Blushing Bride card stock run through the Big Shot with the Brick Wall TIEF and a window trim of Mint Macaron. (Tip: Be sure to cut out the "window" from the Blushing Bride layer first.)

Until I wrote out my blog I had not realized just how many retired product went into this card, but the recommended replacements will make this card a winner for sure. I would love to see pictures of cards you create from my example. Please share them with me on Facebook or Pinterest.

Just a little business yet. I wanted to tell you about the promotion during the month of June. For each workshop (or order) of $350 USD/$400 CAD or more in sales, the hostess will receive $35 USD/$40 CAD in Extra Stampin’ Rewards. This is an excellent opportunity to start adding to your collection from the new catalog. Remember, Stampin’ Rewards can also be used on Starter Kits, which are even better this month!

Honeycomb Happiness and Crazy About You Stamp Sets

Things were very busy in February and blogging was the first thing at the bottom of my to do list! Blogging is such a mental exercise for me so it is one of the easiest things to skip. Don't you feel that way?

This is the last month for the Sale-A-Bration catalog. I am really going to miss showing off these stamp sets, paper, glitter tape, Project Life (TM), and glitter tape. Oh, did I mention Metallic Glitter tape? Place your order before the end of the month and receive one of these free Stampin' Up! products with every $50 purchase. Click the link on the right for the catalog.

I must admit this first club card was a little easy since I took advantage of a sample in the SAB catalog using another image from the Honycomb Happiness stamp set. I made my own Designer Series Paper too! It is hard to tell from the photo (terrible lighting) but I used the paper piecing method for this cheeky chick. First, I stamped the chick with Basic Black Archival Ink on Whisper White cardstock for placement and his feet. I colored the feet with Tangelo Twist Stampin' Write Marker. I stamped the chick a second time on Daffodil Delight and fussy cut the main body not quite removing all of the outline. The easter tag is from the Crazy About You stamp set.

Hopefully, I will complete the second card yet this weekend and can add a short follow-up post and pictures.

Bloomin Love Stamp Set and Bloomin Heart Thinlits Dies Bundle Card

Hearts are "IN" right now. You guessed it -- it is time to make valentine cards. This month's stamp club focused on preparing for our February 14 card giving. Stampin' Up! just released the 2016 Occasions Catalog and pages 16-17 displays the gorgeous Love Blossoms collection.

These cards feature the new Bloomin' Heart Thinlits Dies -- an intricate die that combines flowers and foliage in the shape of a heart. It makes a beautiful card. Bloomin' Love stamp set, 16 pc (available in photopolymer only), item #140643, $17; Bloomin' Heart Thinlits Dies, 3 pc, item #140621 is $25; and save 15% buying as a bundle, item #140818, $35.50.

For the card on the right, I used the new Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper, OC p. 17, item #140550, $5. It is just gorgeous! The wood veneer hearts, the pearl trim and sequins (flower centers) are from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit, item #140551, $12.

Although the cards are fairly basic, if you need detailed instructions and measurements, I would be happy to respond to your email with specifics.

Sale-A-Bration Reminder: For every $50 product purchased from Jan. 5 thru March 31, 2016, you earn a free Sale-A-Bration product. Check out the catalog links.
Happy Valentine's Day!
