Sending Love this Valentine’s Day

Hello my crafty friends. Hope you are ready to start thinking about Valentine’s day cards! The Sending Love stamp set is a beautiful carry over stamp set with coordinating dies. The main image is the 3D mailbox featuring a moving carrier signal flag. Happy Valentine’s Day!!

(Not a very professional looking picture, it was a gloomy day today. If I have an opportunity to retake it, I will replace this one.)

RANDOM THOUGHTS:  If you don’t have the retired cloud punch, you could swap out the Balmy Blue background with Basic White and create some wispy clouds using a sponge dauber and Balmy Blue ink.

I (HEART):  Love that the mailbox die already has the hole to connect the carrier signal flag with a brad. No pressure in getting these to line up manually!! 😊

Quick Tips for Creating a Card that Features the Designer Series Paper

Hello my crafty friends. Hope you were able to earn the Designer Series Paper Softly Stippled (see p. 8 of the Sale-A-Bration Catalog). The colors and designs are beautiful, which calls for a card where the paper is the main event, and both sides of the paper! Of course, you already know that time is of the essence to earn this beautiful paper as Sale-A-Bration ends on February 29.

This is a portrait A2 card: full sheet of 8 1/2" x 11” cardstock, cut in half at 5 1/2", score at 4 1/4" – and then (I know this is shocking) cut off 3 1/2" of the front panel (set this 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece aside for the sentiment build). Find your favorite sheet of the DSP and cut a panel measuring 4” x 5 1/2". Run a small strip of adhesive along the left side of the DSP and attach the DSP to the 3/4" panel. This will create the ability to show off both sides of this lovely paper.

The sentiment is also from a Sale-A-Bration stamp set – Heartfelt Hellos, inked in a coordinating color, and punched with the Handmade Tag punch. The sentiment is layered on a second punch of Handmade Tag punch in the scrap piece cut from the front flap of the card. You will need 2 of these punches, but to make it work takes a little effort with cutting up the tags in 2 pieces and layering.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:  If you find that layering the multiple punches of the Handmade Tag is a little much, you could swap that out with a 2 3/8” circle punch that would fit nicely behind the Handmade Tag punch.

I (HEART):  I love the ability to view both sides of the DSP with this card design. I hope you give it a try. And, love, love, love the tiniest brushed brass butterfly accent. Sweet. 😊

Cards for Valentine’s Day featuring the Bee Mine Suite Collection

Hello my crafty friends. A real timesaver in cardmaking is beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP)! A great example is the DSP that coordinates with the Bee Mine collection. And the super cute “buzzy” bee which is created using a punch. Another timesaver – card fronts using the book binding format – one of my favorites. What are you making for your Valentine this year?

This is a landscape A2 card: full sheet of 8 1/2" x 11” cardstock, cut in half at 4 1/4", score at 5 1/2" (and 4 1/4"), then fold at the 5 1/2" score line and burnish the side for a crisp edge. Fold the second score line at 4 1/4" in the opposite direction, burnish and (for this card) go ahead and glue together the faux book binding section. Use the 4” x 4” section of the card front for creating your buzzy bee and valentine’s sentiment. Then use the inside 4” x 4” section for your personal message to your valentine’s recipient.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:  So happy that the punch includes a heart – and did you notice that it punches the buzzy bee’s wings perfectly.

I (HEART):  There are several “faces” in the Bee Mine Stamp Set for your buzzy bee. I chose the “winking” face for my buzzy bee. 😊

Quick Card Featuring Detailed Dogwood Stamp Set

Hello my crafty friends. Super quick card featuring the Detailed Dogwood stamp set. The flower image is beautiful so nothing to do here, really, but some simple coloring. Stamp a couple of the smaller images from the set and this note card looks a little like journaling or doodling. I pieced together this card using the two samples in the Sale-A-Bration brochure. What do you think?

This is a landscape A2 card: full sheet of 8 1/2" x 11” cardstock, cut in half at 5 1/2", score at 4 1/4", then fold and burnish the top side for a crisp edge. Before affixing the Copper Clay cardstock mat (4” x 5 1/4"), stamp several images along/off the edges using the coordinating ink. After stamping and coloring the dogwood image on the top layer of Basic White (3 3/4" x 4 3/4"), add some additional images (like that cool dragonfly) and be sure to add along the bottom edge that long stamp of dots in Moody Mauve. The samples have the main layer adhered at an angle, so I did as well. I guessed at the measurement of this layer, but I think it is close.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:  In stamping the dogwood image, I found that Copper Clay was just too dark so I used a second generation stamp of Pecan Pie and used Stampin’ Write Markers in Petal Pink and Lemon Lime Twist for coloring.

I (HEART):  Love that the small flower in this stamp set can be punched using the Petal Park Builder Punch. Surprise!! 😊
