When I am designing a card, I usually start with a pencil drawing of my initial thoughts. Sometimes an idea comes to me while I am riding the train on my way to or from work so I will use the Notes app and the cool "S Pen" on my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (did you know you can take long distance selfies with the S Pen, honest!) to sketch out the basics of the card. The next step is a trial run of the card front with just the images in black ink, or I might already have a color in mind and include some color. In designing this month's blog card, I had a LOT of different ideas and finally chose the card featured last week.
Today I thought I would share with you my runner up card. I thought it was a great example of a Simple Stamping card.
#simplestamping
Stampin' Up! is challenging demonstrators to show how easy it is to get started with just the basics: stamps, ink and paper! I had so much fun just stamping!! Don't you love it! So therapeutic. You will see - just try it! The following are some details about my #simplestamping card.
Stamps:
- Broadway Birthday Stamp Set (AC p. 67)
Ink:
- Brights Classic Stampin' Ink Coastal Cabana (AC p. 162)
- 2018-20 In Color Classic Stampin' Ink Lovely Lipstick (AC p. 164)
- Stampin' Write Marker Basic Black (AC p. 163)
- Memento Tuxedo Black (AC p. 180)
- Craft Stampin' Ink Whisper White (AC p. 180)
Paper:
- Note Cards & Envelopes (AC p. 168)
Now with this card I had challenged myself to add some techniques. How many can you find?
1. Kissing technique - I used the Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder (AC p. 199) on the balloons instead of adding another stamp set to keep the supply cost down for replicating this card.
2. Masking technique - I used a thin scrap of computer paper for masking the banner to:
a) split the balloon string to give dimension to the banner,
b) allow only the tassels of the party hat to line the top and bottom of the banner, and
c) fill in gaps on the banner with the smaller shape
3. Mystery technique (There must be a name for this, but I have not found it) - I inked the party hats along the bottom of the card in Coastal Cabana and the tassels of the party hat in Lovely Lipstick.
Thank you for stopping by my blog today! I sure hope you have enjoyed my card featuring Broadway Birthday. Leave a comment below with a trail to find you so I can see your creations.
