July Paper Crafting Blog Hop

Hello, my crafty friends. Welcome to the July Paper Crafting Blog Hop! I am participating in this blog hop with fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators from across the globe! You might be starting the blog hop right now, or you may be coming from Joy Nelson's
blog. Great project, Joy. Welcome one and all.

This month our blog hop is spotlighting the Designer Series Paper Sale. Select DSP from the 2021-22 Annual Catalog is on sale this month (15% discount). YAY!! Such a great deal. You know I cannot resist a deal. Here's my fancy DSP card.

The card base is a side fold, portrait A2 (8 1/2" x 11" sheet, cut in half at 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4") in the new 2021-23 In Color Evening Evergreen cardstock. The next layer is Mint Macaron cardstock, cut 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" and embossed with one of the Greenery Embossing Folders.

My DSP choice is from the Hand Penned 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper. This DSP is also a product featured in the Hand-Penned Suite (AC pp. 104-105). I cut one strip 3" x 12" and then cut into 3 equal pieces, 3" x 4". I think a picture would help here:
The Pale Papaya side is flagged on the bottom edge and adhered to the flower print side. (Save the third piece for another card!) I added a piece of White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, dyed it to match (drag it across the Pale Papaya ink pad, wipe off excess, let dry a bit) and tied in a cute bow (so pretty).

I added this large circle die with a mid-sized stitched star cut in the center. You won't believe that I bought the Stitched Stars dies long ago and this is the first time I have used them. I am going to be using this die set a LOT more!

Finally, if you have been following my weekly blog posts, you know that this month I am featuring the Many Messages Stamp Set and Messages Die in all of my projects. I now have large pile of sentiments to choose from any time I make a card. It has really simplified card making. For this card, I did a little masking to create the second flagged sentiment for my birthday wishes.

So, now it is time to check out the great project by our next blog hopper, Nancy Reynolds.

(July 24, 2021 @ 11 AM - Tentative)
I was NOT able to hold our workshop on the Third Saturday, July 17, as usual. If you follow me on Facebook, I will let everyone know as soon as I know for sure that I will be able to arrange eveything in time. All July cards will feature the Many Messages Bundle and I plan to use the Many Messages SS  • Item# 154510 + Messages Dies • Item# 154422 in my workshop. NOTE: The Bundle pricing is no longer available; and the 2021-22 catalog introduces a new stamp set, Many Happenings • Item# 155001, that coordinates with the die.

Keep motivated and crafting this month - I am so looking forward to seeing your creations. Take a picture of the cards you make and share with us all in the comments during my Facebook Live. For everyone that places an order of $25 or more using the monthly host code (see the sidebar), I will send you the next month's (August) workshop card kits in advance of the workshop.

Hope you were able to subscribe in time for the July Paper Pumpkin kit. Be sure to Like and Follow my Facebook page for discussions with other Paper Pumpkin subscribers. Not a subscriber already? No problem. Contact me and let's get you signed up by August 10 in time for the next kit so that you do not miss out any more!

  1. Lovely Card Sandy, I like the cutting guide for the DSP and flagging the top piece is a great idea.

    1. Thanks, Nancy. The guide maybe helps make sense of those rambling cutting instructions!

  2. A great card layout. Showing both sides of the DSP and then having the top layer peek through the star die really makes this card "pop"!

    1. Thanks, Joy. I really love this Pale Papaya sheet.

  3. Great design element with the flagged end.

    1. Thanks, Shirley. It was a fun card to make.

  4. Clever idea for using one strip of DSP, and being able to see both sides when you can't decide which one you like best

    1. Thank you Tracy. This DSP is so pretty it is hard to decide!

  5. Great card and great DSP, evidenced by how many of us elected to use it.

  6. The died ribbon is glorious!! And what a marvellous card - love all the layering and textures - so much fun, and the Messages sentiments flagged look so lovely!

  7. So many wow features on your card! Thanks for sharing how you did it!

  8. What a fancy card! Great tip for dyeing the ribbon. I'll be trying that soon! Thanks for sharing.
