July Paper Crafting Blog Hop

Hello, my crafty friends. Welcome to the July Paper Crafting Blog Hop! I am participating in this blog hop with fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators from across the globe! You might be starting the blog hop right now, or you may be coming from Joy Nelson's
blog. Great project, Joy. Welcome one and all.

This month our blog hop is spotlighting the Designer Series Paper Sale. Select DSP from the 2021-22 Annual Catalog is on sale this month (15% discount). YAY!! Such a great deal. You know I cannot resist a deal. Here's my fancy DSP card.

The card base is a side fold, portrait A2 (8 1/2" x 11" sheet, cut in half at 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4") in the new 2021-23 In Color Evening Evergreen cardstock. The next layer is Mint Macaron cardstock, cut 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" and embossed with one of the Greenery Embossing Folders.

My DSP choice is from the Hand Penned 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper. This DSP is also a product featured in the Hand-Penned Suite (AC pp. 104-105). I cut one strip 3" x 12" and then cut into 3 equal pieces, 3" x 4". I think a picture would help here:
The Pale Papaya side is flagged on the bottom edge and adhered to the flower print side. (Save the third piece for another card!) I added a piece of White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, dyed it to match (drag it across the Pale Papaya ink pad, wipe off excess, let dry a bit) and tied in a cute bow (so pretty).

I added this large circle die with a mid-sized stitched star cut in the center. You won't believe that I bought the Stitched Stars dies long ago and this is the first time I have used them. I am going to be using this die set a LOT more!

Finally, if you have been following my weekly blog posts, you know that this month I am featuring the Many Messages Stamp Set and Messages Die in all of my projects. I now have large pile of sentiments to choose from any time I make a card. It has really simplified card making. For this card, I did a little masking to create the second flagged sentiment for my birthday wishes.

So, now it is time to check out the great project by our next blog hopper, Nancy Reynolds.

Quick and Easy Handmade Card Featuring Painted Poppies and Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Sets

Hello my crafty friends. I love the summer months, but things really get busy during this time. I know it does for you too. Today I thought I would be quick and show off this card I made during the June 19 workshop.

The card base is a side fold, portrait A2 (8 1/2" x 11" sheet, cut in half at 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4") in Basic White cardstock. The next layer is Fresh Freesia cardstock, cut 4" x 5 1/4". The embellishment build is a 3" x 3" piece of the In Color 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper. Important note: This 3" square cut makes the most use of one sheet of the In Color DSP. The field of poppies image is stamped on a 2 1/2" square piece of Basic White cardstock to fit within the DSP square. I used Stampin' Blends (Highland Heather and Calyspo Coral) to color the poppies.

If you watched my Facebook workshop video, I share that I created the card "on the fly" although I did base the design on my Blog Hop shaker card from June 16. Once I placed the field of poppies on the card base, the embellishment build did not stand out until I added a 3/16" strip of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

The butterfly is one of the smaller butterflies from the Butterfly Brilliance SS.  The sentiment is from Hey Birthday Chick SS (I love this font!). And don't forget a couple of adhesive-backed sequins for some bling!.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today!  I hope my project has inspired your creativity. Feel free to leave a positive comment below with a trail to find you so I can find your creations out on the "www" - I look forward to it.

June Paper Crafting Blog Hop

Hello, my crafty friends. Welcome to the June Paper Crafting Blog Hop! I am participating in this blog hop with fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators from across the globe! You might be starting the blog hop right now, or you may be coming from Joy Nelson's blog. Great project, Joy. Welcome one and all.

The theme for this month's blog hop is birthdays and today's card was inspired by my sister's recent shaker card for my niece's birthday. For her card she used the Hey Birthday Chick Stamp Set, but I wanted to use some of the butterflies from Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set to accent the row of poppies image from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set.

The card base is a side fold, portrait A2 (8 1/2" x 11" sheet, cut in half at 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4") in Basic White cardstock. To create the shaker piece, first stamp the poppies image on a scrap of Basic White and die cut it with the #5 circle die. It is layered on this wild circle die cut from Painted Labels dies in Rich Razzleberry. This 2" circle fits perfectly! The background is Mango Melody cs, cut 3 1/4 " by 5", and embossed using the Meadow Moments Embossing Folder.

My shaker bits collection: 1) several of the Artistry Blooms Sequins in Rich Razzleberry (oops, one is really high and hidden by the frame!) and adhered in the centers of the embossed flower images, 2) I glued down a couple of solid Rich Razzleberry butterfly die cuts, and 3) a couple of pinches of the Painted Poppies Sequins. These are retired now, but I still had some in my stash -- the colors match perfectly!!

To create the shaker: I adhered the Mango Melody cs to a bit wider Basic White piece, cut 3 3/4" x 5", and the whole thing goes into a CLEAR envelope! Add the couple pinches of sequins and carefully turn it over to seal the envelope. The envelope is larger than the cardstock so fold up two of the sides and tape them down. Because the shaker "packet" will be smaller than the Stitched Rectangle frame (the #6 from center die fits perfect), you can just adhere the packet straight to the card base and then adhere the Rich Razzleberry frame. Voilà!!

How about the CLEAR envelope for a shaker hack! Let me know if this is the first you have heard of this.

So, now it is time to check out the great project by our next blog hopper, Julia Mazur.

Simple Stamping Challenge Featuring Hey Birthday Chick Stamp Set

Hello, my crafty friends. Have you seen the new catalog yet. Beautiful cover and full of great stamp sets inside. Yes! Today I thought I would share this super cute card using the Hey Birthday Chick Stamp Set. Back in 2017, the companion Hey Chick Stamp Set was introduced as a Sale-A-Bration item. Turns out these wacky chickens are my favorite! The Simple Stamping Challenge is to create a card with stamps, ink and paper and one of the 3 themes for May allows the use of any stamp set in the new catalog. I love it!!
#simplestamping

The card base is a side fold, portrait A2 (8 1/2" x 11" sheet, cut in half at 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4") in Basic White. The first mat layer is Blackberry Bliss cardstock, cut 4" x 5 1/4". The image is stamped on Basic White cardstock, cut 3 3/4" x 5". I colored using my Stampin' Blends. So simple.

Give the #simplestamping challenge a try!

Simple Stamping Challenge Featuring Hooray to You Stamp Set

Hello, my crafty friends. For my last card this month featuring retiring stamp sets, I am using the Hooray to You Stamp Set. I have used this stamp set many times for quick and easy birthday cards, but this is the first time I have shared them with you here. The April Simple Stamping Challenge is to create a card with stamps, ink and paper using retiring product. This is a must have stamp set, especially for #simplestamping, and I think you will agree!
#simplestamping

The card base is a side fold, portrait A2 (8 1/2" x 11" sheet, cut in half at 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"); one card in Mango Melody and one card in Misty Moonlight, The Basic White layer is cut 3 3/4" x 5" with a 1/2" strip of coordinating DSP along the left side. The images and sentiment are stamped in Mango Melody and Misty Moonlight.

This is a peek at the inside sentiment. So simple.
Give the #simplestamping challenge a try!

Simple Stamping Challenge Featuring Jar of Flowers Stamp Set

Hello, my crafty friends. This month I have been featuring birthday cards and today is no different. I also decided to try another card for the March Simple Stamping Challenge. To refresh your memory, this month's challenge is to create a card with stamps, ink and paper, plus Designer Series Paper.
The card base is a side fold, portrait A2 (8 1/2" x 11" sheet, cut in half at 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4") in Coastal Cabana cardstock. The first layer is a piece of the Playing with Patterns DSP cut 3 3/4" x 5 1/4". The second layer is Coastal Cabana cut 3 1/4" x 4 5/8" and adhered at an angle. The flower arrangement and jar are stamped on Basic White cardstock, cut 2 3/4" x 4 3/8", using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. (The "odd" sizes for the mats were necessary due to the "height" of the flower image.)

Did you spot the technique I used on this card? I stamped the jar on a scrap piece from the Playing with Patterns DSP, fussy cut it to fit inside the outer edge of the image, and "paper pieced" it over the stamped image on the Basic White cardstock. I think the technique might have been easier to spot if I had not layered the sentiment over the top of the jar image - then you could have seen the different shades of Coastal Cabana on the pattern paper.

If you are careful to not color over the lines, you can use your Stampin' Write Markers on the flower image stamped with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Otherwise, you should use Stampin' Blends for coloring to eliminate the risk of the black ink bleeding into the colors. The marker colors I used were  Calypso Coral (or substitute with Terracotta Tile), Crushed Curry (or substitute with So Saffron), Pretty Peacock (or substitute with Shaded Spruce), Purple Posy (or substitute with Highland Heather).

Give the #simplestamping challenge a try! And, if you would like to try the paper piecing technique, choose any large, line image stamp from your collection.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today!  I hope my project has inspired your creativity. Feel free to leave a positive comment below with a trail to find you so I can find your creations out on the "www" - I look forward to it.

March Paper Crafting Blog Hop

Hello, my crafty friends. Welcome to the March Paper Crafting Blog Hop! I am participating in this blog hop with fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators from across the globe! You might be starting the blog hop right now, or you may be coming from Sue Boerner's blog. Great project, Sue! Welcome one and all.

The theme for this month's blog hop is "happy birthday." Now I have been posting birthday cards the last couple of weeks here so today I am sharing this super cute card using the Timeless Tulips Stamp Set in a slightly familiar card design. Stick around for the details.

The card base is a top fold, landscape A2 (8 1/2" x 11" sheet, cut in half at 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4") in Calypso Coral cardstock. The tulips on the top half of the card are stamped on a Basic White cardstock strip, cut 2" x 5 1/4" using Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz ink. To create the brick wall, I ran this strip through "The Boss" (what I have been affectionately calling the new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine!!) using the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder.

The sentiment is stamped on a 1/2" strip of Basic White cardstock with a slim piece of Calypso Coral cardstock along the bottom edge. I hand cut the flagged end and wrapped the other end with Linen Thread.

The bottom panel is a pretty pattern strip from the Playing with Patterns 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper, cut 2" x 5 1/4". Since I plan to use this card for this month's online workshop - and some crafters have not yet had an opportunity to purchase the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch - the 3 tulip clusters were stamped on scrap Basic White cardstock and trimmed to fit, approximately 1 1/4" x 1 3/4".

So, now it is time to check out the great project by our next blog hopper, Terri Stewart.

This is a full list of our bloggers this month and their links in case you find yourself off track:
