November Paper Crafting Blog Hop - Happy Holly-Days Stamp Set and Bundle

Hello, my crafty friends. Welcome to the December Paper Crafting Blog Hop! I am participating in this blog hop with fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators from across the globe! You might be starting the blog hop right now, or you may be coming from Joy Nelson's blog. Great project, Joy! Welcome one and all.

The theme for this month's blog hop is December Holidays. Recently, I have been gearing up my holiday cardmaking to get those Christmas cards ready to mail. The card I am sharing today uses the Happy Holly-Days Stamp Set (p. 27 of the July-Dec 2021 Catalog) and the Holly Border Punch (which is bundle priced during this catalog).

The card base is a top fold, landscape A2 (8 1/2" x 11" sheet, cut in half at 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4") in Shaded Spruce cardstock. On Basic White cardstock (cut 5 1/4" x 4"), punch the row of holly using the Holly Border Punch along the bottom edge twice. (Tip: Line up the outer edges by viewing from the back side of the punch.) Layer onto a slightly smaller piece of Real Red Cardstock. And it is hard to see from this photo, but I punched out the leaves and stems in scraps of Shaded Spruce and paper pieced in the holly leaves and stems. The red berries were too many different sizes for paper piecing, and that is why I used the Real Red cardstock layer.

The bird is stamped in Early Espresso and the beak is colored with a Real Red Stampin' Write Marker. The 1/2" strip of Shaded Spruce cardstock hides my birds feet. You could move the bird up a "smidge" (a really technical term for just a bit) so the bird's feet rest on the strip, but I felt the bird needed a "resting" place.

A simple Red Rhinestone adds a festive splash!!

How are you doing so far with your holiday cardmaking? Hope you are closing in on the finish line. After the Thanksgiving holiday (U.S.) next week, I plan to move onto gift tags and packaging projects. Come back anytime to see what I am working on.

So, now it is time to check out the great project by our next blog hopper, Maureen Rauchfuss.
