Tutti-Frutti Happy Birthday

Welcome to the Happy Birthday Blog Hop. Today I am lucky to be hopping with fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia! You might be starting the blog hop right now, or you maybe coming from Sue Kremer's blog. Welcome one and all. The theme for our blog this month is BIRTHDAYS! I love a simple birthday card -- one that is quick and easy to put together and then run out the door to head to the party. (Right? I know you know what I mean!)

I picked the color combination for my card to coordinate with the Tutti-Frutti Designer Series Paper strip. Also, I created my own paper from scrap strips of Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Peekaboo Peach lined up diagonally on a piece of the new multipurpose adhesive sheet to hold them all together, then die cut using the Happy Birthday Thinlit Die [Item no. 1437000]. Love the Scattered Sequins Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF) on the Lemon Lime Twist background layer and those Tutti-Frutti Adhesive-Backed Sequins!!

The inside sentiment is stamped using the coordinating Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set [Item no. 143662], which is available at a bundle price when paired with the Happy Birthday Thinlit (Item no. 145301, Annual Catalog p. 77).

Thank you for visiting with me today! Make sure you keep hopping along to see all the other great birthday cards and projects. Click on the "Next" button below to visit Nicole Wilson's blog. She is a talented Stampin' Up! demonstrator from Australia.

This is the full list of our bloggers this month:

Flying Home

Riding the train this week, I have had some time to work on my blog post for today. This is a great place to clear the mind and get things done. Welcome to my blog!!

This card was a fun one to create featuring coloring with the new Stampin' Blends. Although it is a rather simple card, look how beautiful it all comes together. I really don't think you all need the card recipe (measurements), however, here are a couple of tips.

I started with a draft layout, like this...

I was really pleased with the coloring of the birdhouse/flower image and wanted it to stand out on the card without distraction, however, the plain Whisper White cardstock layered on Calypso Coral was just too plain.  I think you will agree.

A strip of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper paired with the Whisper White cardstock makes a perfect background. I used the new Simple Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It is a bit hard to find in the Occasions Catalog. Go to page 5, bottom left corner. You can miss it if you are not looking for it!

I also changed the sentiment from the first draft to the final. I love the font on Hello Baby (found in Teeny Tiny Wishes), but I only wanted the word Hello. I used the banner die cut from the Popcorn Box Thinlits and the paper heart accent from the Corrugated Elements embellishment.

Post a link to your card in the comments below or share with me on Facebook.

Sales Pitch:  Sale-A-Bration will end on March 31. Host a party (or an online party) to earn Stampin' Rewards and bonus rewards on party sales. For every $50 purchase, you earn a free Sale-A-Bration product. I would appreciate the opportunity to be your demonstrator if you do not already have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

Shameless Plug:  Sale-A-Bration is a great time to join Stampin' Up! as a demonstrator too. Besides the great value ($125 of product for $99, plus 2 free stamp sets, it will be a blast. I would appreciate the opportunity to have you join my team.

If you find that you need any additional information, please message me and I will get back to you.

Mediterranean Moments and Beautiful You

This week I want to show you how to combine two stamp sets where the scale of the imagines are not quite the same.

The images in Mediterranean Moments are so beautifully detailed and make an excellent main feature or background. I have seen cards by others combining either gal in the Beautiful You stamp set and other stamp sets using the masking technique and the match up of these two sets works out really nice.

To create your own card, first stamp the umbrella gal in just a tad right of center and down a bit on a piece of Whisper White card stock. I used Basic Black Archival Ink. Then stamp the umbrella gal once again on a Post It (r) or a piece of scrap paper and trim along the outside lines (i.e. no white edges) to create the mask. Cover the umbrella gal with your mask and now stamp the sidewalk scene right over the top. VoilĂ   (Hint: You may want to try using the Stamp-a-ma-jig (TM) or at least practice a couple of times on scrap paper for perfect placement.)

In keeping with February's theme of coloring techniques, I used the Stampin' Write Markers. The image is trimmed to 2 1/2 "x 4" and layered on a 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" Pacific Point card stock.  The base layers are 4" x 5 1/4" Whisper White on a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" Basic Black card stock and adhered to a Whisper White card base (A2).

PS:  Subscribe to Paper Pumpkin by March 10 so that you do not miss out on the 5-year anniversary kit.  There is a free gift. No clue what it is, but I am sure it is awesome!! #paperpumpkin5

Epic Celebrations and DIY DSP

Another card in the You Can Do This Series.

Last week's blog featured a card made in totally frilly Sweet Sugarplum (In Color 2016-18) and my favorite stamp from the Epic Celebrations stamp set -- the pair of sneakers!!  This second card uses the guitar stamp and also focuses on coloring techniques using Stampin' Up!'s Water Color Pencils (found in the Annual Catalog on p. 201 and in the Occasions Catalog on p. 34).

Sometimes it is just a little more fun to make your own DSP (Designer Series Paper). Right? I stamped the head phones in Basic Black Archival Ink on Pool Party Card Stock and colored using the Water Color Pencils in Pacific Point, Real Red and shades of Basic Gray. Use the Aqua Painter or the Blender pen to move the color around.

The guitar was stamped in Dapper Denim Classic Ink (In Color 2016-18) on Whisper White Card Stock and die cut using a large oval and layered on a Dapper Denim large scallop oval.  The sentiment was stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink. Bedazzling compliments of Rhinestone Basic Jewels and a Pool Party Star from the Enamel Shapes (Subtles) assortment.

This is a simple card and would make a great birthday card for a musically inclined teenager!  Post a link to your card in the comments below or share with me on Facebook.

Sales Pitch:  Need I remind you that the 2016-18 In Colors will retire in June so I recommend ordering the ink pads and refills pronto.

Shameless Plug:  If you don't already have a demonstrator, I would appreciate the opportunity.

If you find that you need any additional information, please message me and I will get back to you.

Epic Celebrations and Tutti-Frutti DSP

Another card in the You Can Do This Series.

The images in the Epic Celebrations stamp set are classics. My personal favorite is the pair of sneakers!!  February club was focused on coloring so the pair of sneakers was perfect for using the Stampin' Write markers. I selected Sweet Sugarplum to coordinate with the watermelon design on this adorable paper from Tutti-Frutti Designer Series Paper Stack. Such a sweet card, and possibly a teen birthday!

After coloring the sneakers with layers of Sweet Sugarplum Stampin' Write marker until I was happy with the shading, I handcut the sneakers in a few snips and affixed with a dimensional to a Whisper White circle on a Pool Party scallop circle. Can you see how I gussied up the white background with a small piece of coordinating washi tape from the Basics Pack 1?

Regretfully, I did not stamp the background piece of Sweet Sugarplum with the sneakers for a tone on tone look.  Instead of starting over, I made lemonade from lemons and dressed this up with a hand-drawn stitches border, a cluster of sequins from the Iridescent Sequins Assortment, and a wrap of the sparkly Powder Pink trim from the Love Mini Tinsel Trim Combo Pack in the 2018 Occasions Catalog around the left edge.

You know you can do this so give it a try. I would love to see your creations! Post a link to your card in the comments below or share with me on Facebook.

If you find that you need any additional information, please message me and I will get back to you. Have I told you lately how fun it is to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. I would love for you to join my team. Sale-A-Bration is a great time to join too. Let's talk!

You Can Do This-Celebrate You and Wood Words Thank You Gift

Yesterday's blog hop, Anything But A Card Blog Hop, was great fun - only minor technical difficulties - and a huge success. Be sure to check back often to learn about March's Sale-A-Bration blog hop. I cannot wait.

Today I would like to share tips and tricks for putting together this adorable thank you gift.

Stampin' Up! makes gift packaging so easy. Here are 3 tips to help you make your own wood crate.

#1 - The Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack is 6x6. To get both cuts of the wood crate from one sheet so that the wood grain goes in the same direction, flip the die cut 180 on the second run. The overlap of the bottom sections of the wood crate creates a missing small rectangle piece. It will not make any difference in its integrity. Cut a matching rectangle from some coordinating scrap cardstock and adhere to the bottom of the crate to cover the missing section.

#2 - Wait for stamping until after die cutting both of the sections that create the crate.  Otherwise, the slots of the crate may cut out your stamped sentiment ("thank").

#3 - Use a Bone Folder to burnish the score lines for straight, crisp folds and Tear & Tape Adhesive to strengthen the wood crate.

In this second photo, I included this cute, tall box using the Popcorn Box Thinlits Dies [AC, p. 26/212, Item no. 141473].  Maybe it is a little hard to see from the photo that the word "Celebrate" die cut in Dapper Denim is layer on one die cut in the 2017-19 In Color Lemon Lime Twist.

Here is a quick list of the products for ordering:

  • Celebrate You Thinlits Dies [SAB, pp 16-17, Item no. 146840]
  • Wood Words stamp set [AC, p. 158-59, Item no. 143928/c, 143925/w]*
  • Wood Crate Framelits Dies [AC, p. 158-59/212, Item no. 143730]*
    • Bundle pricing available [AC, p. 158-59, Item no. 145316/c, Item no. 145315/w]

  • 2016-18 In Color Cardstock Dapper Denim [AC, p. 184, Item no. 141414]
  • 2016-18 In Color Classic Ink Dapper Denim [AC, p. 184, Item no. 141394]

Celebrate You and Wood Words Thank You Gift

Welcome to the Anything But A Card Blog Hop. And a special welcome to any visitors coming from Quebec, Canada, via fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Emilie Poncelet's blog! Today I am hopping with several Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia! Welcome one and all.

As my regular visitors already know, my new year's resolution is to increase crafting inspiration for my virtual crafting friends. Hard to believe that my first blog hop was just a month ago. Let's get started.

Like last month, this hop features free, exclusive products from the 2018 Sale-A-Bration catalog that can be earned with qualifying purchases.  The new twist is to create anything, but NOT a card. I decided to pair the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies with the Wood Words stamp set and Wood Crate Framelits Dies found in the Annual Catalog on page 159 (and currently a bundle price) to create this cute thank you gift. I LUV the rustic look of the crate using the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. Don't you?

In my second photo, I snuck (is this even a word?) in a cute tall box with a Celebrate banner made with the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies - LUV the newest in-color Lemon Lime Twist paired with the retiring in-color Dapper Denim. The tall box is made with the Popcorn Box Thinlits Dies also found in the Annual Catalog on page 212. Can you believe this is the first time I have made anything with this die set?

Thank you for visiting with me today! Make sure you keep hopping along to see all the other Sale-A-Bration projects! Click on the "Next" button below to visit Sue Kremer's blog. She is from Minnesota, USA.

New Year's Resolutions and Rose Wonder Change Up with Celebrate You Thinlits Dies

Happy New Year my crafting friends!! And with a new year there are new year's resolutions, right? What are your resolutions? Good luck to you. I have reflected on 2017 and come up with one resolution -- show appreciation for my friends!! Of course, I appreciate all of my friends, but let me show you how much I appreciate YOU. I was thinking that one way to show my appreciation would be to share crafting inspiration with you on various social media outlets - like my blog. Message to me: Stop avoiding the blog!!

So welcome to the Sale-A-Bration 2018 Blog Hop! To accomplish my resolution, I have joined a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that want to showcase the new, free products found in the Sale-A-Bration 2018 catalog beginning today, January 3. I am so honored to be a part of this group of fabulous crafters.

I earned the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies [Item no. 146840] and I have combined them here with the Rose Wonder Stamp Set [Item no. 140697] found in the Annual Catalog on page 162 and the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies [Item no. 140619] page 216.

My card on the right uses the new Stampin' Blends (Stampin' Up!'s alcohol markers that are available in the 2018 Occasions Catalog, pages 30-31) in two colors: Light Rich Razzleberry and Light Old Olive after stamping the rose outline in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I die cut the word "YOU" in Rich Razzleberry Cardstock and die cut the word "amazing" three (3) times in Basic Black Cardstock and stacked them together for dimension. I struggled with the word "are," and settled on masking it from one of the sentiment elements in the Rose Wonder stamp set. Here's a close up picture...

My card on the left uses the inlaid technique. I stamped the rose outline in a stamped off Smoky Slate classic ink on Whisper White Cardstock and colored again using the new Stampin' Blends Light Rich Razzleberry and Light Old Olive markers. I carefully placed the die cut pieces in a Basic Black die cut. I am not going to lie, it did try my patience. The "amazing" die cut is also done with the inlaid technique. Be sure to keep track of all those pieces. I love the fonts for both die cut words. I changed up the word "are" with a build of shortened cuts of the Classic Label Punch. This is a close up of my second card...

I finished the inside of both cards with this sentiment from Just Add Text Stamp Set [Item no. 143934] found on page 167 of the Annual Catalog...

In case you are new to Stampin' Up!, Sale-A-Bration is held once a year from January through March 31. You earn exclusive free Stampin' Up! products with every qualifying purchase. You also earn rewards for hosting a workshop or becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator during Sale-A-Bration. If you do not already have a demonstrator, it would be my pleasure to help you place an order, show you how to earn the free products or join my team.

I am so happy that you stopped by my blog today! I hope you have enjoyed my cards and that you now know how much I appreciate YOU!!
