Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set

Hello my crafty friends! The Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set (AC p. 34) makes an awesome birthday card! The card features the large sunflower in non-traditional colors and the ink is applied using the Blending Brushes.

The card base is Poppy Parade (full sheet of 8 1/2 x 11, cut in half at 5 1/2," scored at 4 1/4"), fold and burnish the edge for a crisp, side fold A2 card. The ink color for the sunflower is also Poppy Parade. The layers are different pieces of cardstock and printed paper featuring Poppy Parade and Flirty Flamingo. Use an embossing folder on the plain cardstock and any embossing folder will do because not much of it will show if it is the back layer.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:  The brass butterflies and the black gingham ribbon really make this card.

I (HEART):  I have always loved the look of sentiments in white embossing powder on black cardstock. 😊

Quick and Easy Card Featuring Let’s Set Sail Stamp Set

Hello my crafty friends! Before switching over to fall themed cards, let me show you this quick and easy card using the Let’s Set Sail Stamp Set combined with the Sailboat Builder Punch. Perfect for birthday cards for those that love the water (AC p. 80, 151).

The card base is Basic White Cardstock (full sheet of 8 1/2 x 11, cut in half at 5 1/2," scored at 4 1/4"), fold and burnish the edge for a crisp, top fold A2 card. The ink color for the sails is Crushed Curry. The cardstock for the boat and mast is Night of Navy. The ink color for the water is Balmy Blue with the boat’s shadow in Night of Navy. The scene is die cut using one of the Scalloped Contours dies and layered on a slightly larger mat of Balmy Blue Cardstock.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:  If you are looking for a multi-occasion card to have on hand, this quick and easy card would be a good pick for mass producing. Of course, the Sailboat Builder Punch is not required, but it certainly eliminates the need for fussy cutting to reduce production time. I would say this card can be completed in less than ten minutes once the supplies are all lined up.

❤️❤️❤️:  Besides the fact that this card is simple, I love the flock of birds. Truly makes this card seem so peaceful. 😊

Quick and Easy Book Binding Fun Fold Card Featuring Garden Birdhouses Stamp Set

Hello my crafty friends! This card is a fun fold called “book binding” or “book fold” and perfect for showcasing the Garden Birdhouses stamp set (AC p. 96).

The card base is the new 2022-24 in color Tahitian Tide Cardstock (full sheet of 8 1/2 x 11, cut lengthwise at 4 1/4,” and then scored at 4 1/4" and 5 1/2." The center score line (5 1/2") remains the edge for this side fold A2 card and the side with the additional score line is the “front” of the card. To create the book binding effect, on the inside of the front of the card, apply adhesive to this 1 1/4" strip to secure the left-hand side of the card. Using a bone folder, burnish the 4 1/4" score line.

Next, decorate the two separate sections on the front of the card. The DSP strip on the left side measures 1” x 4.” The layer on the right side measures 3 3/4" x 3 3/4.” (Normally, this layer is 4 x 4, however, to keep it symmetrical with the rectangles created by the Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch, this layer is 1/4" smaller. If you need a layer for the inside sentiment, I would use a 4 x 4 layer.)

I love the Hello sentiment in this stamp set and it is placed at a bit of an angle. When I do this card again, I plan to use one of the other bird images so that it is facing the birdhouse instead of leading off the right of the card. 

The Garden Birdhouses stamp set had been on my “want list” since it was first introduced in the 2020-21 Annual Catalog. I am so happy that I finally have added it to my collection.

Card Sketch Challenge Featuring Cup of Tea Stamp Set

Hello my crafty friends! The craft table is cleaned off - not really! - and ready for some stamping. Today I want to share with you this card I created using a card sketch from Freshly Made Sketches from a couple of weeks ago and the Cup of Tea Stamp Set (AC 12-13).

The card base is Basic White Cardstock, cut 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4," for a side fold A2 card. The horizontal strip of the Tea Boutique DSP is purposely cut 1 1/2" x 4" in order to maximize the number of cards you can create from one sheet of this 6" x 6" DSP. Without measuring, it is adhered across the center of the Blushing Bride layer, cut 5 1/4" x 4."

Stamp the leafy image slightly above the center of a 3" x 4" piece of Basic White. I used Pear Pizzazz classic ink for the leafy image and the 2022-24 in color Sweet Sorbet classic ink for the spray of flowers. The tea cup is stamped in the 2022-24 in color Starry Sky on the Starry Sky Cardstock. Accent is the lemon wedge stamped in Daffodil Delight classic ink.

To complete the sketch, the sentiment is stamped on a strip of Basic White and adhered to a 1/2" strip of Sweet Sorbet Cardstock.

Creating a simple card featuring Celebrating You

Hello my crafty friends! This week I wanted to share with you a simple card.

The first layer is the Starry Sky sheet from the new 2022-24 In Color DSP assortment. It is cut to cover the front of an A2 card, 4 1/4" × 5 1/2", so if you do not have a paper trimmer and feel this might be too challenging to get the edges perfect, go ahead and make it a 4 x 5 1/4 so that there is a white border. Careful not to glue down the area where you plan to punch the heart and save the heart punch for the inside of the card.

The splattering of hearts were die cut from the dies in the Tea Cup Dies and the sentiment is from Celebrating You Stamp Set. Of course you could substitute any sentiment you wish for the flagged strip.

After my long weekend in New York in May, I came down with the flu so there was not a crafty bone in my body. Still a pretty cute card for my hubby for our anniversary. Hope you will agree.

Quick and Easy Card Featuring the Teacups in the Tea Boutique DSP

Hello my crafty friends! I was unable to post on my regular schedule this week so today it will be. 

Several weeks ago I was playing with the the new in color papers and coordinating in color designer series paper that I received in my preorder. They are such deep colors. I think you will love them. My card design sort of follows a sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches. (FMS#533, Apr. 27, 22)

The sentiment is from the Cup of Tea Stamp Set. The die cut hearts are from the coordinating Teacup dies.

Quick and Easy Card Featuring Cup of Tea Stamp Set

Hello my crafty friends! Hope you are enjoying the new 2022-23 Annual Catalog. I know I am. I want to show you a quick card I made using some of the accent stamps in the gorgeous Cup of Tea stamp set.

This card is super easy and super cute. The style is classified as casual; it still has layers, yet it is not overly difficult. Take a sheet of Basic White Cardstock (8 1/2 x 11, score the 8 1/2 edge, from top to bottom at 4 1/4, and cut the 11" edge, side to side at 5 1/2), and fold in half for an A2 card base. On another 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Basic White Cardstock, stamp the stems/leaves image in the new in color Parakeet Party, then stamp the flowers in the new in color Sweet Sorbet. I used a smoosh (very technical term for inking up a block!) in the new in color Tahitian Tide to create the sky. Adhere a small die-cut flower and add a sentiment. You could even add an in color Opal Round or two to finish.
